The local authorities in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil have opened countless Internet cafés for citizens to use computers for free. Advocates believe that ?access to technology is fundamental in order to get full rights and opportunities in modern society?. Not surprisingly, all of the Internet cafes are wired to GNU/Linux operating systems and it has been proposed to purchase 10,000 new computers using Linux in schools across Brazil.
